2012 SUZUKI EQUATOR: Since 1970 and the 360cc Jimny four-wheel drive model, Suzuki has kept Japanese ?truckin? alive by offering a versatile product line, which includes the Equator mid-size pickup introduced in 2009. For 2012, Suzuki Equator is offer in Base, Premium and Sport trim-levels; Extended Cab (4-passenger) and Crew Cab (5-passenger) body styles, as well as rear-wheel or four-wheel-drive configurations to serve a variety of driver needs. Built at Nissan's manufacturing facility in Smyrna, Tenn., the Equator offers a choice of a 2.5-liter DOHC inline four-cylinder engine with 152 horsepower and 171 lb. ft. of torque or an available 4.0L, V6 DOHC engine producing 261hp with 281 lb.-ft. of torque. The Equator comes equipped with either a five-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission or a five-speed manual transmission (available only on four-cylinder models). Tow ratings for Equator range from 3500-to-6300 pounds, and to accommodate heavy loads from ATVs to motorcycles, Suzuki offers Crew Cab variants in both Short Bed and Long Bed configurations. A large ?S? over the honeycomb mesh grille proudly conveys Suzuki's dynamic spirit and off-road history.
