Audi R8

2016 AUDI R8: Audi's mid-engine supercar, the 2016 R8, is beginning its second generation with an evolutionary exterior makeover of the lightweight ASF bodies. Audi engineers were able to cut the overall weight of the R8, nearly 110 pounds less than its predecessor. Consumers have a choice of the V10 or V10 Plus, indicating two high-performance engines. The naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V-10 puts out 540- horsepower while the 5.2L Plus model generates 610-hp. Both engines emit powerful tones when revved, and each power plant comes mated to a seven-speed twin clutch automatic transmission. Audi reports that the R8 reaches 0-to-60 mph in 3.6 seconds and achieves a top track speed of 186-198 mph. The V10 Plus attains 60 mph in 3.3 sec. and tops off at a speed of 205 mph. These accomplishments prove that the R8 is the reigning performer in the Audi model lineup. The crisper character lines blend into the body side air vents, the refashioned honeycomb pattern grille, front air intakes and LED headlamps. From the rear, the cutting edge body presents a refined tail, nicely accentuated by the redesigned tail lamps and a pair of refashioned exhaust pipes. Within the two-passenger, double-stitched leather adorned cockpit is a configurable, 12.3-inch TFT instrument panel, accented by aluminum trim.
