2016 BMW 7 SERIES: As BMW's flagship four-door sedan, the 7 Series is in its sixth generation with a new elegance exterior form and a more luxurious five-passenger cabin. The engine line-up is spearheaded by the BMW 750i xDrive and its powerful 445-horsepower twin power turbo 4.4- liter V-8. The new V-8 engine is teamed up with the latest version of the intelligent all-wheel-drive system in the BMW 750i xDrive. The inline six-cylinder engine with twin power turbo technology is a 3.0L gasoline unit that produces 320-hp. The 740e xDrive joins the BMW plug-in hybrid model lineup with an intelligently controlled interaction between a 2.0-liter gasoline engine with the twin power turbo setup and an electric drive unit integrated into the eight-speed Steptronic transmission. The 2016 BMW 7 Series is offered in the US exclusively as a long wheelbase version and is the roomiest Sedan the brand has ever built. The exterior features a smoothly downward-sloping roofline, headlined by a long hood; short overhangs, long wheelbase and set-back passenger compartment highlight a sporting elegance and powerful sense of dynamics. For the first time, carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic combined with steel and aluminum is being used in the body structure of the '16 BMW 7 Series. A new-generation Head-up display presents a broad range of information in graphical format on the windshield into the driver's field of view. An active kidney grille with visible air flap control for improved aerodynamics is available for the first time in the US. The air flap is only opened when there is an increased cooling air requirement, otherwise remain closed. Around back, note the tail lights featuring LED technology and the two L-shaped light units that are connected by a chrome bar extending the full width of the trunk lid. One of the options is the hands-free opening and closing of the trunk lid, which is available on all model variants. The tailored luggage compartment offers up a large 18.2-cu. ft. of cargo space.
