BMW X1
2016 BMW X1: On display at the Chicago Auto Show is the all-new 2016 BMW X1 sport utility vehicle, which BMW terms its Sports Activity Vehicle. This is the second generation for the X1, and the X1 xDrive28i is the exclusive model in the US at launch. It features a 228-horsepower 2.0-liter twin turbo four-cylinder. The engine with its twin-tailpipe design and eight-speed Steptronic automatic transmission works in sync with the xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system. Stock features include keyless engine ignition with remote-controlled central locking, rain sensor with automatic headlamp control, heated exterior mirrors and a head-up display that projects information directly into the driver's field of view using the full spectrum of colors. BMW's camera-based assistance systems for the 2016 X1 encompass lane departure warning, speed limit info, automatic high beams, city collision mitigation, as well as pedestrian and frontal collision warning. Additional functions in the driver assistance plus package are active cruise control with stop & go function rear-view camera and parking assistant that helps the driver to find and make use of parallel parking spaces. Buyers can select the standard 18-in. run-flat all-season tires or non-run-flat all seasons and a space saver spare available as a no-cost option for the first time. BMW's sport oriented customers can opt for 19-in. run-flat performance tires. All X1 models are eye-catching with muscular body panels, iconic twin kidney grille, sweeping hood, long wheelbase, and set-back passenger compartments. Talented designers and engineers created a smooth underbody paneling, air deflectors on the front wheel arches and vertical aero blades, which form a unit with the roof spoiler to channel the airflow around the rear of the X1 for ultimate aerodynamics.
