2016 HYUNDAI VELOSTER: Hyundai's convention-shattering 2016 Veloster compact hatchback (three-doors) is available in Base, Turbo, and Turbo R-Spec trim levels, each appealing specifically to both performance and design enthusiasts. Powering the sporty, front-wheel-drive Veloster is the direct-injection Gamma 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers highway fuel economy of 40 mpg, and a peak output of 138 horsepower and 123 lb. ft. of torque. A six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission can be ordered with that engine. And adding to the fun-of-driving is sport-tuned electric power steering that adjusts instantly to changing driving conditions while improving fuel economy. Veloster delivers innovation to the compact segment by combining the style of a coupe with the functionality of a glass hatch and passenger-side forward-hinged rear door. The large third door makes access to the rear-seating easier. In profile, the Veloster features "Fluidic Sculpture" character lines, muscular wheel arches, body color door handles and wraparound headlights and taillights.
