2017 BMW 2-Series: Available as a 2-door hardtop or 2-door convertible, the BMW 2-Series is a rear- or all-wheel drive sports coupe that competes with the Acura ILX, Audi A3, and Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class. For 2017 the 2-Series adds new engines but retains familiar styling and model lineup. Also offered in coupe form only is an "M" performance version.New engines for 2017 include a twin-turbocharged four-cylinder and a twin-turbocharged inline six-cylinder. Both are standard with all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission, while vehicles equipped with rear-wheel drive can be had with a six-speed manual transmission for no extra charge. The four-cylinder displaces 2.0-liters and makes 248 horsepower. The six-cylinder is a 3.0-liter unit that makes 335 horsepower, an increase of 15 from before. EPA-estimated fuel economy for the 230i coupe with a manual transmission is 21 mpg city and 32 mpg highway (23/34 for the convertible with automatic), and 24/33 for an all-wheel drive coupe (23/33 convertible with all-wheel drive). The M2 has a 3.0-liter six-cylinder that makes 365 horsepower and mates to either a six-speed manual transmission or a dual-clutch automatic. Its fuel economy is 18/26 (20/26 with the automatic).With the change in engines, the non-M models are now renamed 230i and 240i.Available features include Apple CarPlay, heated front seats, a navigation system, Wi-Fi hotspot, wireless device charging, parking assist, power front seats, moonroof, heated steering wheel, premium audio, rearview camera, stability control, traction control and a USB port and dual-front airbags, front-side airbags and front-knee airbags.The 2017 BMW 2-Series has a base price of $33,150.
