Only front-wheel-drive is offered. There are five different trims available: FE, LX, EX, S Touring and Touring. Three engines are available: A 1.6-liter 4-cylinder aided by an electric motor that produces 139 horsepower, a plug-in hybrid variant that adds an 8.9 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery, and a 64 kWh battery that produces 201 horsepower in the Niro EV. The Niro plug-in hybrid boasts an estimated 26 miles of electric range, while the Niro EV an estimated 239 miles.
Available driver-assist technology includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, rearview camera with cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, frontal collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, automatic high-beam headlights.
