2021 Lexus ES: The ES is a midsize luxury car that seats 5 passengers and is only available as a 4-door sedan. Both gas and gas/electric (hybrid) versions are available. For 2021, changes include the reintroduction of a 250 trim and a special edition trim called Black Line. Competitors include the Acura TLX, Audi A4, Cadillac CT5, Infiniti Q50, Jaguar XK and Volvo S60.

The gas model lineups the 250, 250 F Sport, 250 Luxury, 250 Ultra Luxury, 350, 350 F Sport, 350 Luxury and 350 Ultra Luxury. Hybrid models include the 300h, 300h Luxury and 300h Ultra Luxury.

The new ES 250 comes with a 203-horsepower 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine and 8-speed automatic transmission. 350 models get a 3.5-liter V6 engine that makes 302 horsepower and mates to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The hybrid gets a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder/electric motor combo paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission that has a total output of 215 horsepower. 250 models are all-wheel drive. 350 and hybrid models are front-wheel drive.

The new for 2021 Black Line is limited to 1,500 units. Based on the F SPORT trim and offered in three exterior colors, Black Line includes black outer mirrors, darkened F SPORT wheels and lug nuts and black rear lip spoiler. Available driver-assist technology includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, rearview camera with cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, frontal collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, automatic high-beam headlights. Pricing ranges from $40,000 to $51,000.
