2021 Ram 1500: The 1500 is a full-size pickup truck that seats 5 passengers and is offered in a quad cab and crew cab configurations. Quad cab models get a 6-foot 4-inch bed and crew cabs get either a 5-foot 7-inch or 6-foot 5-inch bed. The big news for 2021 is the addition of a high-performance model called TRX. But all models get an head-up display and digital rear-vew mirror option. Competitors include the Chevrolet Silverado, Ford F-150, GMC Sierra, Nissan Titan, and Toyota Tundra.

Rear-wheel drive is standard with four-wheel drive being optional. Trim levels include Tradesman, Big Horn, Lone Star, Rebel, Laramie, Longhorn, Limited and the new TRX. Engine choices include a 3.6-liter V6 that makes 305 horsepower, a 5.7-liter V8 that makes 395 horsepower, a turbodiesel 3.0-liter V6 turbo diesel that produces 260 horsepower and the new TRX engine, a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 that makes 702 horsepower. The V6 engine gets Ram's eTorque mild-hybrid system, which is also offered on the base V8. All engines pair to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Maximum towing capacity is rated at 12,750 pounds.

In addition to the 702-horsepower engine, the new Ram TRX gets Bilstein adaptive shocks, 2-inch lift kit, 35-inch all-terrain tires, upgraded brakes, Dana 60 rear axle, electronic locking differential, skid plates and launch control. Available driver-assist technology includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, rearview camera with cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, frontal collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, automatic high-beam headlights. Pricing ranges from $36,000 to $85,000.
