2021 Toyota Corolla: Corolla is a compact car that's available as a 4-door sedan and 4-door hatchback. It is offered with gas and gas/electric powertrains. After a complete makeover for 2020, Corolla gets a host of minor changes for 2021 including support for Android Auto and a new Apex special edition. Corolla Competitors include the Honda Civic, Hyundai Elantra, Kia Forte, Mazda 3, Nissan Sentra and Subaru Impreza.

Only front-wheel-drive is available. Trim levels include L, LE, XLE, SE, Nightshade, and XSE. Two engines are offered: A 1.8-liter 4-cylinder that produces 139 horsepower and a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder that makes 169 horsepower. The hybrid uses a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder paired to an electric battery and motor and produces 121 total horsepower. Either a 6-speed manual or a continuously variable automatic transmission are offered.

The new-for-2021 Apex edition adds upgraded suspension components, lower ride height, optional summer performance tires and black and bronze exterior trim. Available driver-assist technology includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, rearview camera with cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, frontal collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, automatic high-beam headlights. Pricing ranges from $21,000 to $29,000.
