2022 Subaru Ascent: Ascent is a midsize three-row crossover that seats 7 or 8 passengers depending on configuration. It was introduced in 2019 and sees the introduction of a new trim for 2022 called Onyx Edition. Competitors include the Chevrolet Traverse, Ford Explorer, Honda Pilot, Hyundai Santa Fe, Kia Sorento, Mazda CX-9, Nissan Pathfinder and Toyota Highlander.

Trim levels include Base, Premium, Limited, and Touring. All-wheel drive is standard across the board. Sole powertrain is a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 260 horsepower and pairs to a continuously-variable automatic transmission.

New for 2022, the Onyx Edition debuts at $37,995. With a striking new look, the Onyx Edition is equipped with exclusive black-finish exterior elements, badging, and 20-inch alloy wheels. On the inside, the seats are wrapped in Subaru StarTex water-repellant material for durability and easy clean up.

The Onyx Edition builds upon the 7-seat Premium trim and adds standard convenience features including Reverse Automatic Braking; Power Rear Gate; Heated Steering Wheel; and Keyless Access with Push-Button Start. 

Available driver-assist technology includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, rearview camera with cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, frontal collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, automatic high-beam headlights. Pricing ranges from $33,000 to $47,000.
