2022 Subaru BRZ: Subaru's BRZ took the 2021 model year off, but returned in early spring with a host of changes as a 2022 model. BRZ is a 2+2 sports car that seats 4 passengers and is only available as a 2-door coupe. It was jointly developed and produced with Toyota, which sells a similar model called the 86. For 2022, BRZ gets a more powerful engine, freshened styling and additional tech features. Competitors include the Chevrolet Camaro, Ford Mustang and Mazda MX-5 Miata.
Offered only with rear-wheel drive, BRZ is Subaru's only vehicle without all-wheel drive. Big news for 2022 is an enlarged engine. Still a horizontally opposed 4-cylinder, displacement jumps from 2.0 liters to 2.4 liters. Horsepower grows as well, from 205 to228. Transmission choices remain a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic.
In addition to freshened front and rear sytling, BRZ gets an all-new interior with a 7-inch digital instrument cluster and an 8-inch infotainment system that adds Subaru's Starlink infotainment system and integration with Apple Car Play and Android Auto. Pricing has not yet been announced, but should range from $28,000 to $35,000.
