Toyota Corolla Cross

2022 Toyota Corolla Cross: What do you get when you blend the styling of a RAV4 with the utility of a crossover and the size of a compact car? Toyota says, Corolla Cross. Slotting between the C-HR and RAV4 in terms of size, the new Corolla Cross is based on the current Corolla but adds a higher-riding suspension, optional all-wheel drive and a 4-door wagon bodystyle. Competitors include the Chevrolet Trax, Ford EcoSport, Honda HR-V, Hyundai Kona, Kia Seltos, Mazda CX-3, Nissan Rogue Sport, Subaru Crosstrek and Volkswagen Taos.

Trim levels will include L, LE and XLE. Both are available with front- or all-wheel drive. All get a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder that makes 169 horsepower and pairs with a continuously variable automatic transmission. Maximum towing capacity is 1,500 pounds.

Corolla Cross comes standard with Toyota Safety Sense, which includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-centering assistance and adaptive cruise control. Also standard across all trim levels is LED lighting and Apple Car Play and Android Auto compatibility. Wireless charging and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system are also available. Toyota has not yet announced starting pricing or an on-sale date, but have said it will go on sale before the end of the year.
