2020 Nissan Leaf: The Nissan Leaf sees the addition of two new pedestrian safety sounds and semi-autonomous driving and safety tech standard for 2020. The Leaf is an electric car that seats 5 passengers and is only available as a 4-door hatchback. An extended-range model called Leaf Plus is also available. Competitors include the Chevrolet Bolt EV and Tesla Model 3.

Only front-wheel-drive is offered. Six trims are available: S, SV, SL, S Plus, SV Plus, and SL Plus. One drivetrain is offered: A 100-kilowatt electric motor powered by a 40-kWh lithium-ion battery that produces 147 horsepower in the Leaf and a 62-kWh battery that produces 215 horsepower in the Leaf Plus. Both are paired to a single-speed transmission. EPA-estimated maximum range is 151 miles and 226 for Leaf Plus.

Available driver-assist technology includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, rearview camera with cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, frontal collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, automatic high-beam headlights. Pricing ranges from $29,000 to $43,000.
