2021 Ford Escape: After debuting a new model in 2020, Ford's compact crossover stands pat for 2021. Escape iseats 5 passengers an is only available as a 4-door wagon. In addition to a traditional gas model, Escape is also available as a hybrid and a plug-in hybrid. Competitors include the Chevrolet Equinox, Honda CR-V, Mazda CX-5 and Jeep Renegade.

Front-wheel drive is standard with all-wheel-drive being optional. Four trims are available: S, SE, SEL and Titanium. Engine offerings include a turbocharged 1.5-liter 3-cylinder that makes 181 horsepower, a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder that makes 250 horsepower and a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder gas/electric hybrid powertrain that makes 200 horsepower. Turbocharged engines pair to an 8-speed automatic transmission, while the hybrids use an continuously variable transmission (ECVT). Maximum towing capacity is rated at 3,500 pounds.

Available driver-assist technology includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, rearview camera with cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, frontal collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, automatic high-beam headlights.
