2021 Subaru Crosstrek: The Crosstrek is a compact crossover that seats 5 and is only offered as a 4-door wagon. Like most Subarus, it comes standard with all-wheel drive. Both gas and plug-in gas/electric hybrid powertrains are available. Changes for 2021 include a more powerful optional engine in gas modelsand refreshed front and rear styling. Competitors include the Chevrolet Trailblazer, Ford EcoSport, Honda HR-V, Hyundai Kona, Kia Soul, Mazda CX-30, Nissan Rogue Sport and Toyota CH-R.
The gas model is offered in Base, Premium, and Limited. Hybrid models are only offered in Base trim. Gas models get either a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 152 horsepower or a new 2.5-liter 4-cylinder that makes 182 horsepower. The 2.0-liter engine gets either a 6-speed manual or a continuously variable automatic, while the new 2.5-liter comes only with the automatic. Plug-in hybrid models utilize a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder paired electric motors that produces 148 horsepower. When fully charged the 8.8-kWh battery pack delivers an estimated electric driving range of 17 miles.
Available driver-assist technology includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, rearview camera with cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, frontal collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, automatic high-beam headlights. Pricing ranges from $25,000 to $39,000.
