Kia Carnival

2021 Kia Carnival: for 2022, Carnival replaces Sedona as Kia’s minivan offering. Though the Carnival name has been used in other markets it is new to the US market. The Carnival is slightly larger than the model it replaces, comes with a new engine and gets additional safety and technology features. Offered only as a minivan, competitors include the Chrysler Pacifica and Voyager, Honda Odyssey and Toyota Sienna.

Trim levels include LX, EX, SX and SX Prestige. All get a 3.5-liter V6 engine that makes 290 horsepower and mates to an 8-speed automatic transmission. This engine is slightly larger than the one found in the Sedona and, Kia claims, is the most powerful in the class. For now, Carnival is only offered with front-wheel drive. Seven-passenger seating is standard in the LX, while other models offer seating for an additional passenger.

Standard safety features include blind-spot monitor with collision avoidance, rear cross-traffic alert with brake intervention, lane-keeping assist, forward-collision warning with brake intervention, rear-occupant alert and driver-attention warning. Features include hands-free opening power sliding doors and tailgate, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless support for Android Auto and Apple Car Play, wireless charging dock and dual-screen rear entertainment system. Prices range from $32,000 to $46,000.
