Nissan Ariya

2022 Nissan Ariya: An all-new electric crossover from Nissan, the Ariya is poised to compete with the Mustang Mach E, Hyundai Ioniq5, Kia EV6 and Tesla Model Y. Available as a 4-door hatchback, Ariya will have a projected range of about 300 miles, offer two battery sizes and be available with a hands-free driving system.

Building on more than 475,000 global sales of its all-electric LEAF, Nissan brings Ariya to market with two powertrains. Front-drive models get a single 215-horsepower electric motor and a 63-kWh battery. All-wheel-drive models, dubbed e-4ORCE, get twin motors with a combined output of 389 horsepower and an 87-kWH hour battery. It’s that larger battery that Nissan projects will return 300 miles of range. Ariya is also capable of DC fast charging, enabling up to 80% charge in 20 minutes.

In addition to the typical advanced safety features common on most vehicles as part of Nissan's Safety Shield 360 suite, the Ariya offers ProPilot 2.0. This second-generation semi-automated driving system allows for hands-free driving on single-lane highways. Drivers will still need to pay attention to the road, and sensors will disable the system if the driver is distracted. Ariya will first go on sale in Japan in mid-2021, with U.S. availability expected to follow in the fall. Suggested retail pricing in the U.S. will start around $40,000.
