2022 Subaru Outback: Outback is a high-riding, wagon version of  Subaru's midsize Legacy sedan. Like the Legacy, it seats 5 and comes standard with all-wheel drive. After a complete refresh in 2020, Outback gets a new model for 2022 called Outback Wilderness. The new trim adds off-road goodies to make what Subaru calls the most rugged and capable Outback yet. Competitors include the Audi Allroad and Mini Clubman.

In addition to the new WIlderness, Outback comes in Base, Premium, Limited, Touring, Onyx Edition XT, Limited XT, and Touring XT trim. Engine offerings include a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder that makes 182 horsepower and a turbocharged 2.4-liter 4-cylinder that makes 260 horsepower. Both mate to a continuously variable automatic transmission.

Outback Wilderness offers a nearly 1 inch increase in ground clearance, skid plates, all-terrain tires, advanced X-MODE all-wheel-drive system and unique exterior and interior badging. Available driver-assist technology includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, rearview camera with cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, frontal collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, automatic high-beam headlights. Pricing ranges from $28,000 to $42,000.
